Well I think it’s safe to say summer has finally arrived here in Edmonton!
And after months of heavy jackets, frost bitten cheeks, and pre-heating my car, there is nothing I’m wanting to do more then get outside and enjoy some [much needed] sun.
There are so many things I love about summer. Exploring the farmer’s markets, the endless daylight, and of course, relaxing on a sunny patio with the perfect summer cocktail. And what could be more perfect then a glass of fruity sangria?
I’ll admit I’m a pinot grigio girl at heart. But there’s just something so refreshing about sipping a fruity glass of sangria on a hot afternoon with friends. And while I’ve never had a glass of sangria I didn’t like, the juicy berries, sweet oranges, and the hint of brandy in this one make it my go-to.
Summer Berry Sangria
- 1 Orange (sliced)
- 1 Bag Frozen Berries*
- 1 Bottle White Wine
- 1 Bottle Red Wine
- 1/4 Cup Brandy
- 2 Cups Cherry Juice
Place orange slices and frozen berries in the bottom of a large pitcher.
Add wine, brandy, and cherry juice. Stir to combine.
Use a large spoon to scoop fruit into individual wine glasses.
Pour sangria over fruit and serve.
*Most recipes call for fresh fruit, but I prefer frozen because then I can skip the ice [more room for wine #priorities]. Plus, I like the extra juice that the berries add as they thaw.
Super simple and refreshing, this is the perfect cocktail to celebrate summer. Enjoy!
