I’ll be honest, the past two months have felt like a complete blur. Things always seem to get busy in the fall, but life always gets even busier as Christmas gets closer. Between the weekend getaways, Christmas parties, work functions, holiday prep, my job [plus the stress of some big changes coming in January] I feel like I haven’t had a chance to breathe in weeks.
I want to make a point of saying that I’m certainly not complaining, but all that busy has made me really appreciate the time I have off between Christmas and New Years. And this year I made a point of not planning much over the break because I really wanted to live in the moment and spend my time doing the things I enjoy the most.
We’ve had so much going on over the past few months, but the biggest highlights would be:
The Thunder Bay trip I took with my parents to visit my Grandparents at the beginning of November [read all about it here].
A lovely weekend in Jasper with Matt’s family.
And of course, visiting with our families over Christmas.
Something That’s Been On My Mind
New years resolutions! I know they are cheesy, but I love the idea of a clean slate and a fresh start. I am constantly looking for ways to improve, and in my mind, a new year is the perfect opportunity to take a life audit and look for areas where I can improve.
Books I’ve Been Reading
This month I thought I’d get back into the self help books. I’m currently working my way through ‘Girl Wash Your Face‘ [which is one of the BEST books I’ve read in a long time btw] and ‘Working With Difficult People‘.

6 Gentle Reminders About Minimalism…After the excitement of de-cluttering has worn off, it’s so, so easy to fall back into old habits of mindlessly shopping and collecting things that we don’t need. [I’m a bit embarrassed to admit we’ve now de-cluttered twice in the passed two years. How did I not learn the first time?] This article was a great reminder that minimalism is not just de-cluttering [and perfecting] your home. It’s a daily commitment to be intentional about what you allow into your life.
