I have to confess, up until about a month ago I thought green smoothies were totally gross. Aren’t they usually just a glass full of liquefied veggies?
Yeah, I’m out.
My first real boss used to make green smoothies every morning. She was a huge role model for me [to this day I still want to ‘grow up’ to be like her] but even though she was the reason I started eating quinoa and went gluten free for a while, I never could jump on board with her love for green smoothies. As far as I was concerned nothing topped my usual peanut butter smoothie, veggies should never be liquefied, and they should definitely not be consumed before noon.
But when we got back from holidays a couple of weeks ago, I decided it might be time to look at incorporating more veggies [and less sugar] into my diet. After taking 2 1/2 weeks off of eating clean and working out, I had a lot of work in front of me so I was willing to try almost anything.
After a bit of research I created what I like to call my Super Green Wake Up Smoothie. The ‘super’ part comes from the apple cider vinegar, the spinach, and the avocado and the ‘wake up’ part comes from the green tea and the matcha tea powder. Basically, this smoothie will give you a ton of energy while also making you feel like the ultimate health goddess.
Hope you enjoy!

In the morning, place all ingredients in a blended and blend until smooth.
